When the ‘Guru’ Becomes the Path, and the ‘Disciple’ Becomes the Light
On the spiritual journey, a subtle yet profound question often troubles the mind:
“Do I need to ‘flow’ with a lineage (Guru Parampara) to reach the Truth, or can I connect directly to the Divine as the Guru has shown, without needing to remain anchored to the Guru?”
This struggle arises when we mistake ‘institutional structures’ for ‘inner science.’
A Lens of Vision, Not a Barrier to the Path
The lineage (Guru Parampara) is never intended to suppress your personality; it works with you for you and by you. The Guru is a ‘lens’ that has been cleaned through years of Tapas (austerity). When you attempt to view the Truth directly, your vision may be blurred by your own prejudices and conditions or the ego. The role of the lineage is not to bind you, but to clarify your vision so that you may eventually see the Truth yourself.
Respecting that lens is not necessary because the ‘Guru’ needs it; it is necessary because the Physics of the Path dictates that following a verified, mapped route is far more efficient than wandering aimlessly.
Beyond Institutions, Closer to Science
Many people feel the aspects of the lineage like an obstruction to your solitude. Here one should remember this path to Truth is not social etiquette; it is inner discipline. You can be fully immersed in the ‘Science of Consciousness’ of a lineage without being caught in its ‘social flow.’
What is learnt if you can connect to the depths of practices learnt, and if you can stabilise your consciousness in the ‘gaps’ (the silence) between two thoughts, then you are deeply connected to the lineage. You exist in a state of gratitude toward the Guru, but you are not dependent on them. This liberation from dependency is the ultimate goal of the Guru—to prepare a disciple who can eventually become a Guru themselves.
The Ultimate Truth: The Divine and You

Always remember that the Divine is not an external entity to be reached via a ‘messenger’ or a ‘middleman.’ The Divine is the Pure Witness currently reading these words. The Guru’s purpose is not to lead you to a place where you cannot go further; the Guru’s purpose is to shatter the wall that prevents you from meeting ‘You.’
Your path is direct, but the ‘mapping’ required for it is the gift of the lineage. Live this journey with your own sovereignty. Make the formulas provided by the Guru a part of your own consciousness. And when you sit in silence, there will be no ‘Guru’ and no ‘Lineage’ left—there will only be ‘Truth,’ which is You.
Adi-Anantha means exactly this—that which is from the beginning and has no end. That is ‘You.’
Does this reflection resonate with the clarity you are seeking on your path?
